I recently moved here from New Jersey and was in need of a new pain management doctor. For the record I have debilitating neck and back pain that has been treated with a number of methods, that include pain medications. As per the offices instructions, I sent them my medical records in advance. I showed up for my appointment on time and spent approximately 40 minutes filling out paperwork. The office staff was nice and friendly. That's were it ended. I don't even know the name of the doctor who examined me, because I was literally in and out. They made me feel like I was some sort of junkie. I don't have a problem with the office/doctors not wanting to treat me, that is entirely within their rights. But what they should have done, was review my medical records in advance, and then cancel my appointment, before I spent 1 hour to drive there, 40 minutes to fill out paperwork, and another hour to dive home, feeling bad about the entire experience. On top of it they even charged me for the office visit, which I will be reporting to my insurance company. My story does have a happy ending. I did manage to find a pain management doctor that was caring an sympathetic, who took the time to give me a real examination to determine that I was a real patient with real needs.
